We love it when our clients take the time to offer us feedback! Here is another comment that was submitted yesterday in the 'Share your experience' box on our website:
"I had a great experience. I cut 11 inches off to donate to locks of love. I was a little nervous but Myka did such a great job. I get compliments every day on my cut and color. Everything was great and I love my new do for summer!
-Kristyn

Myka

Thanks Kristyn for leaving feedback, we're so glad that Myka took such great care of you! And thanks for donating your hair to such a great cause. We work with both Locks of Love and Pink Heart Funds to donate hair to disadvantaged children and cancer patients.

In order to donate to either charity, please remember that your PONYTAIL must be at least ten inches long. Your hair might be ten inches, but when pulled back into a ponytail it gets shorter.

Has anyone else donated to Locks of Love, Pink Heart Funds or another charity? How was your experience? Did you like going from long to short? Please share in the comments below.

We posted some information about Michael's PhotoArt in our Culture Shift post last week, but we've had many questions about our involvement with the American Heart Association Go Red for Women campaign, so we wanted to give you more information.

Michael Schuh, owner of Michael's Salon has been fortunate to travel the world doing what he loves - hair design. Some of the elements that lend to being a great designer transcend to other fields - including photography. As Michael travels, he always has his camera ready to document the beautiful and the bizarre.

Recently, as part of the salon's renovation, Schuh selected some of his favorite photographs and had them transferred to canvas prints with the help of MotoPhoto, located in Centerville at Washington Square. The response to the new artwork has been extremely positive, with many requests to purchase duplications of Michael's PhotoArt.

Right about the same time that we hung the new artwork, we also became involved with the American Heart Association Go Red for Women. Heart disease is the number 1 killer of women in the United States. On a personal level, Michael's Salon has several employees who are affected by it - along with many clients. In order to help raise funds to bring awareness to this great cause, Michael is selling limited edition reproductions of his PhotoArt, with all profits being donated to Go Red for Women.

The video above is a short promotion for the sale of Michael's PhotoArt. For a closer look at the artwork, private tours are available at Michael's Salon - or you can watch the longer tour by Michael on YouTube.

For more information on purchasing Michael's PhotoArt or Michael's Salon's contribution to the Go Red for Women campaign, please contact Kim Ash at kim@mediagrouponline.com or (937) 435-4701.

Cindy Simerlink of Dayton, Ohio knew that she wanted to dramatically change her hairstyle and at the same time wanted to donate her almost waist-length hair to a charitable cause.  She chose Michael’s Salon and Day Spa to accomplish the first goal and the Pink Heart Funds to realize the second.

The Pink Heart Funds is a non-profit charity which provides prosthetic hairpieces for children and adults suffering hair loss due illness, including those receiving cancer treatments.

Cindy arrived at Michael’s Salon and Spa in Centerville, Ohio and was greeted by Amanda Hansen, a Michael’s designer and educator. Cindy and Amanda discussed styles and selected a chin length bob. So Amanda cut the first 12 inches of hair and set it aside for the Pink Heart Funds. Then she began to sculpt and shape Cindy’s bob. After the bob was cut and styled Michael’s makeup artist, Debbie Sandstrom, completed Cindy’s new look with a Jane Iredale makeover.

Cindy’s desire for an enhanced natural look was achieved.  She left Michael’s smiling and pleased. Both goals were accomplished!
