How to Crimp Your Hair with a Flat Iron

This week's video features Sheena demonstrating how to crimp your hair with a flat iron to create messy, beachy waves.

Video: How To Crimp Your Hair with a Flat Iron

To recap, here are some of Sheena's tips:
  • Sheena preps by blow drying her hair up-side-down to create as much volume as possible
  • Part your hair into one-inch sections
  • Starting at the root, slide your flat iron down the section, flipping it over and under to create a zig-zag wave
  • Always end "under" so you don't have harsh edges on your style
  • Squeeze your flat iron tight to get more definition in your waves
  • Sheena twists her bangs to the side and pins them with a stylish clip
  • You can vary the look by parting your hair in larger or smaller sections

This is nothing new for our avid Today Show fans, but in case you missed yesterday's show, Hoda got a Keratin Treatment and talked about the process.

Visit msnbc.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

Hoda: I can't wait to go to the beach! Now I don't have to worry, I planned so much of my life around...
Kathy Lee: This could CHANGE YOUR LIFE
Michael's has had many clients schedule Keratin treatments before heading on vacation to humid destinations - the Keratin smooths the hair's cuticle to take away frizz and leave hair soft, shiny and manageable. You can still wear your hair curly after a Keratin treatment, but it will be frizz-free. This is why the treatment is called a smoothing treatment, it is more than a traditional straightening treatment.

Have you had a keratin treatment? Were you as impressed as Hoda was?

We love it when our clients take the time to offer us feedback! Here is a comment that was submitted yesterday in the 'Share your experience' box on our website:
I promised Laura I would give an update, so here it is. Laura gave me the Keratin treatment on Wednesday. She did an excellent job. I loved my hair walking out of the salon. I had to wait three days to wash it. Saturday was the big test. Would I be able to cut my styling time in half??

I am so excited to say that it only took me about ten minutes to style my hair and walk out the door the way I like it. I was absolutely amazed. On top of that, my hair stayed completely straight without any frizz or curl. I am so excited about this treatment, and will do it again next year, just in time for the humid weather to start. Thank you so much to Laura for doing such an amazing job. You rock!!!!!  :) :)
