This past weekend Michael’s Salon and Spa welcomed National Deva Curl Educator, Kara Peterson. Kara spent two days certifying members of the Michael’s design team on the Deva Curl cutting technique and 3 step hair care system. Developed by the “original curl girl” and best selling author Lorriane Massey, the Deva system is designed specifically for the curly haired client. The designer begins the Deva cut on dry hair, addressing each individual curl. Products that moisturize, rejuvenate and restore the natural curl complete the Deva Curl service.  Michael Schuh, who has been in the salon industry for over 40 years states, “This revolutionary cutting technique and hair care system is the first I have ever seen specialized for curly hair”. The Michael’s designers and client-models who participated in the workshop were thrilled with the results of the Deva system!

Michael’s Salon and Spa would like to congratulate the grand prize winner of the “New Year New You” makeover contest, Nadia Hartman. Nadia’s grand prize package included a makeover from the Michael’s Design Team, a spa package, earrings from James Free Jewelers, an outfit from Joli Boutique and dinner for two at Medallions Steakhouse located in NCR Country Club.  There were also two runners up, Katherine Anderson and Richelle Hawkins, who both received makeovers from the Michael’s Design Team. Michael’s would like to thank James Free Jewelers, Joli Boutique and NCR Country club for making this year’s makeover contest extra special.

Michael’s received over 80 makeover nominations this year, with each entry highlighting a special and extraordinary woman. Because there were so many deserving nominees and heart-warming stories, Michael’s Design team volunteered their time and services on February 6^th, so that an additional 31 nominees could receive free cut and color services. It was very rewarding for the Michael’s Staff to honor these special women within our community.
