People decide to get a massage for many reasons. For some, they are experiencing high levels of stress, anxiety or depression. For others, they are suffering with muscle tension and pain due to physical activity. What ever the reason, a massage can help you maintain a healthy balance in whole body wellness.

What to expect during your massage at Michael's Salon and Spa:  Your massage therapist will first consult with you and take a brief medical history to see what techniques should or should not be used.  Your massage therapist will then step out of the room and allow you to undress (to your level of comfort) and get onto the massage table under the sheets/blankets. Every massage is specifically tailored to each individual client, including: amount of pressure, parts of the body that are worked on, areas of focus and techniques used according to medical history. A full body massage includes: Back, arms, hands, legs, feet, head, neck and face. At the end of your massage, your therapist will again leave the room and allow you time to redress.

How often should you get a massage? That's up to you. At Michael's Salon most clients schedule a weekly massage to relieve tension and stress. But, if you have injuries or conditions you may require more frequent visits initially to jump start the healing process. Your therapist will give you any helpful tips to aid in healing/maintenance between visits.

Cindy Simerlink of Dayton, Ohio knew that she wanted to dramatically change her hairstyle and at the same time wanted to donate her almost waist-length hair to a charitable cause.  She chose Michael’s Salon and Day Spa to accomplish the first goal and the Pink Heart Funds to realize the second.

The Pink Heart Funds is a non-profit charity which provides prosthetic hairpieces for children and adults suffering hair loss due illness, including those receiving cancer treatments. 

Cindy arrived at Michael’s Salon and Spa in Centerville, Ohio and was greeted by Amanda Hansen, a Michael’s designer and educator. Cindy and Amanda discussed styles and selected a chin length bob. So Amanda cut the first 12 inches of hair and set it aside for the Pink Heart Funds. Then she began to sculpt and shape Cindy’s bob. After the bob was cut and styled Michael’s makeup artist, Debbie Sandstrom, completed Cindy’s new look with a Jane Iredale makeover.

Cindy’s desire for an enhanced natural look was achieved.  She left Michael’s smiling and pleased. Both goals were accomplished!

Designer Bess Gose creates a brillant style that moves. It's a short cut that's heavy on both funky layers and sexy fringe. To get the look, Bess cut model Shannon's locks wet while using a point-cutting method. After dry, more layers were added to enrich the hair's texture. Bess says she chose layers and a fringe to contour the face. To style after shampooing and conditioning, Bess used Aquage Uplifting Foam before blow-drying and teasing lightly with fingers. Aquage Working Spray was sprintzed throughout the hair and flat ironed into place. It's an awesome look.

Jeromy Burger of Kettering proposed to Jenna Ray in Michael’s Salon and Spa while she was getting her hair highlighted with designer Megan. Jeromy said he’s been carrying the engagement ring around for about two weeks and waiting for the right time to propose. “I just couldn’t wait any longer” stated Jeromy.  “We’ve been together for over four years and I thought, I’ll just ask her now.” A little stunned, Jenna answered back with a beautiful smile and said YES.
